As part of the “FSL initiatives for Wheat Farmers and Livestock Herders via Irrigation Rehabilitation and Agricultural Assistance in NW Syria – Envelope-1“ project, funded by the Syria Cross-border Humanitarian Fund (SCHF), The Establishment for Human Care and Development – MASRRAT continues implementing activities aimed at strengthening food security and supporting sustainable livelihoods for the most vulnerable households.
As part of these efforts, MASRRAT carried out a livestock feed distribution activity benefiting 300 livestock breeders across the project’s five target villages. Each beneficiary received 300 kg of compound feed and 300 kg of hay, helping livestock owners meet their essential feeding needs during the current season.
This activity reflects the project’s integrated approach, as the distributed hay was recovered through the wheat production support activity, promoting efficient resource utilization while strengthening the link between crop production and livestock farming to maximize the overall impact of the intervention.
The intervention responds to the growing economic challenges faced by livestock breeders, particularly the continuous rise in feed prices. By reducing production costs, supporting the sustainability of livestock farming, and protecting household income sources, the activity contributes to enhancing the resilience of beneficiary families while improving their livelihoods and food security.
