Agricultural seminar entitled: The main challenges affecting agriculture and food security in northwest Syria

As part of the “ FSL initiatives for Wheat Farmers and Livestock Herders via Irrigation Rehabilitation and Agricultural Assistance in NW Syria – Envelope-1” project, funded by the Syria Cross-border Humanitarian Fund (SCHF), The Establishment for Human Care and Development – MASRRAT, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture in Idlib, organized a two-day agricultural seminar entitled: 
“Key Challenges Affecting Agriculture and Food Security in Northwest Syria.” 

The seminar addressed several important topics, including the impacts of climate change, climate-smart agriculture, natural resource conservation, and water harvesting techniques. 

The event brought together a distinguished group of academics, agricultural engineers, and representatives from relevant institutions and entities, including: 
• Eng. Anas Al-Rahmoun, Director of the Climate Change and Environmental Awareness Department at the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment 
• Directorate of Agriculture in Idlib and Aleppo 
• General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research in Damascus 
• Agricultural Research Center in Idlib 
• Cotton Research Center in Aleppo 
• Faculties of Agriculture in Idlib and Aleppo 
• Agricultural Engineers Syndicate in Idlib 
• Veterinary Doctors Syndicate in Idlib 
• Representatives of local organizations 
• A number of agricultural engineers and farmers 

At the conclusion of the seminar, an awareness booklet on climate-smart agriculture and climate change was distributed to all participants.
