As part of the “FSL initiatives for Wheat Farmers and Livestock Herders via Irrigation Rehabilitation and Agricultural Assistance in NW Syria – Envelope-1” project, funded by the Syria Cross-border Humanitarian Fund and implemented by The Establishment for Human Care and Development – MASRRAT, a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs conducted a field visit to Mahambal Subdistrict on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, to follow up on the progress of project activities and review the implementation process on the ground.
The visit included a meeting with beneficiary wheat farmers in Al-Kanisa village, where an open discussion was held on the support delivery mechanisms, registration procedures, beneficiary selection criteria, and the quality of the agricultural inputs provided. The discussion also addressed the main challenges facing the project, in addition to exploring several future proposals aimed at strengthening and supporting the agricultural sector.
The visit program also included a field tour to Al-Bala’a Station, during which the delegation reviewed the major completed works and the progress achieved in implementation, including the electrical and mechanical rehabilitation works carried out at the station, as well as the challenges encountered throughout different stages of implementation.
MASRRAT highly values the importance of this visit in supporting ongoing humanitarian and development efforts, contributing to the implementation of sustainable projects that respond to beneficiaries’ needs and enhance food security and livelihoods in the region.
