For 10 years, the ongoing and progressive conflict in Syria has left many negative psychological, social and economic effects on society with its different segments, especially orphans and their families who suffer from the loss of one or both parents.
In addition to their loss of the security, safety and homeland at the same time, add to those, the difficult living conditions including displacement and forced displacement inside or outside the country, their loss and ability to provide the basic necessities of life and adequate housing as well as their interruption of education. Moreover, many of them are suffering from health diseases and physical disabilities as a result of their injury in the war and their suffering from psychological disorders as a result of losing family care. So, it was necessary to intervene by associations and humanitarian organizations to stand by this target group and secure their basic necessities.
MASRRAT Foundation, with its long experience in the field of orphans care from providing services and support, seeks to advance them in the society. The services provided by the Foundation include “material sponsorship, social care, health, educational and psychological support to ensure their integration into the society, whether they are inside their country or in neighboring countries.
MASRRAT Foundation attaches great importance to the educational aspect so that the orphan regains some of his/her rights that were deprived of them, as many of them were forced to leave the school and resort to work to secure their needs and the needs of their families.
So, We worked to establish centers and clubs in which we provide supplementary education services and reinforcement courses in several subjects “such as mathematics, languages, teaching proper reading, computer skills and its applications, in addition to recreational activities, psychological support and a package of trainings that deal with the moral and psychological aspect of orphans,” in order to ensure that they have a sound balanced upbringing and upbringing from In order to help them return to their schools and integrate them into the society.
In early 2016, MASRRAT also designed an electronic platform for managing orphans’ sponsorships. This platform will activate and enhance communication between sponsors and orphans. The platform allows sponsors to have permanent access to orphans’ reports, including monthly salary receipt reports, educational, health, psychological and photographic activities and reports for sponsored orphans. The platform also provides an immediate notification mechanism for the sponsor of any action via e-mail, such as paying sponsorship, replacing and writing off an orphan and other operations. This platform is the first of its kind in Syria, in terms of the facilities it provides in work, monitoring and management, in addition to its role in building bridges of interaction between an orphan and his sponsor to increase love, kindness, tenderness and trust between them.
In addition to the programs of empowering the mother of the orphan to become able to rely on herself, advance her family, and assume responsibilities by raising her educational, professional and skill capabilities.
