On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) conducted a field visit to follow up on the implementation of the project titled “Enhancing Resilience for Vulnerable Communities through Comprehensive Interventions to Mitigate Climate Change Effects in Northwest Syria.” This project is implemented by the Establishment of the Humanitarian Care and Development – MASRRAT, with funding from the Syria Cross-border Humanitarian Fund (SCHF).
The visit included a meeting with a vegetable farmer in the village of Atma, Dana sub-district, who benefited from agricultural inputs and low plastic tunnel equipment provided by the project. The delegation listened to his personal experience and the positive impact of the agricultural support on both the quality of his produce and his overall living conditions. The discussion also addressed the challenges faced by farmers and explored potential solutions.
The delegation also met with a group of women participating in the “Cash for Work” activity focused on vegetable harvesting in Dana sub-district. An open dialogue was held, during which the women shared their views, needs, and suggestions for project improvement. The conversation highlighted the direct and positive impact the project has had on their daily lives.
This visit was a valuable opportunity to highlight the importance of continued collaboration and joint efforts to improve livelihoods and strengthen the resilience of local communities in the face of ongoing challenges in Syria.
MASRRAT expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to the OCHA team for their humanitarian engagement, willingness to listen directly to the beneficiaries, and recognition of the efforts made on the ground.
