The hard conditions of the war in Syria affected the economic and living situation, and Syrian families are suffering from high prices of goods and lack of income, in addition to the collapse of the value of the Syrian pound against the American dollar, which led to an increase in poverty and poor living conditions, So the minimum level of assistance became a source of great happiness in the life of families.
Mr. Omar Mustafa, a displaced person from the western countryside of Aleppo, is the breadwinner of a large family consisting of thirteen people. He was one of the beneficiaries of the project of supporting self-reliance for affected families in the countryside of Aleppo, and he received full support from agricultural inputs for the cultivation of one hectare of the wheat crop.
Mr. Omar Mustafa says: We were displaced from the western countryside of Aleppo from the village of Kafr Jom to the village of al-Atareb, and we left our house and our farms in search of safety in the countryside of Aleppo. Our main source of income is agriculture.
We cannot work in another profession, and we do not have enough capital to work, so we worked as ranchers in one of the fields in the village of Al-Atareb. When I heard about MASRRAT projects, I went to the local council and registered, I got full agricultural support for planting one hectare of wheat from the MASRRAT, They gave me seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, and harvest wages, in addition to agricultural training and field follow-ups.
When the MASRRAT team checked the beneficiaries, it found that Omar Mustafa meets all the admission criteria, and more than that, the family is extremely poor and the children don’t receive good care.
Abu Ahmed continues: After verification, I was accepted. It was wonderful news. We planted a hectare of wheat without incurring any costs, from planting to harvesting. May God reward you for this support. My family is large and needs a large expense, thank God. After the harvest, I will sell wheat and pay my debt. The production was good, thank God.There are many families, like Abu Ahmed’s, who are deprived of the most basic necessities of life, MASRRAT always seeks to reach them and help them with difficult life conditions through many different projects.
In times of war and disaster, the priority of an organization is focused on securing basic needs, while neglecting other needs affects the building of individuals’ personality and self-realization, robs them from the sense of satisfaction and creates frustration and psychological tension for them.
The Establishment for Human Care and Development – MASRRAT took care of this aspect by opening new and diverse activities in women’s empowerment centers and the most important activity is the drawing activity, which is considered as an effective factor in getting rid of psychological disorders and improving the situation of human moods and provide him with positive energy. Heba is a girl who participates in drawing activities and telling her story about learning drawing and the positive effects of it on her life.
Umm Muhammad’s family is one of 300 families benefiting from the poultry project within the food security and livelihood support program, implemented by The Establishment for Human Care and Development – MASRRAT MASRRAT in the western and southern countryside of Aleppo.
